SB Academy deliver CPD and mentoring sessions within schools. Our aim is to up-skill staff and increase confidence in delivering dance in line with the National Curriculum.
We work cross curricular to integrate relevant topics into our dance sessions, in addition to including functional skills. All staff will receive lesson plans which can be adapted to work each year.
All of our friendly and approachable staff are able to answer any questions throughout the sessions. They can either work alongside staff within lesson time as mentors or offer after school training with staff as CPD.
We have vast experience in how to engage boys within dance sessions as pride ourselves on delivering informative sessions which are personal to the needs of each staff member.
We can provide your school with one-off workshops or weekly sessions bringing something exciting to your PE, Music or Performing Arts lessons. We can link this cross curricular to current study topics by running creative, multi-cultural or stylised sessions.
We can provide workshops in many dance styles such as contemporary, ballet, breakdance, Bollywood plus many more. We also provide vocal coaching and training in acting.
We have practitioners experienced in delivering BTEC and GCSE dance.

We can attend your school on a weekly basic working in your lessons alongside a staff member to deliver a six week scheme of work. The teacher can then see the dance sessions in action which will provide them with the tools to replicate these sessions in the future.
Feedback received following Teacher Training Sessions
Burton Upon Stather Primary School:
Sophie Henry – “I found the lessons plans very useful, showing us how to teach a topic themed dance over the 6 weeks. advise on delivery such as the use of vocal commands to prompt instead of doing it (dancing) with children all the time so they learn the routine was great. the children really looked forward to the session each week and it has improved my skills when teaching dance.”
Claire Clarkson – ” I found the whole course very useful and informative on how to use activities to link to skills. The sessions were really engaging and fun for the children whilst the teacher was able to share her knowledge and information with me.
Crowle Primary Academy:
Trudy Parkin – “It has been very useful to see how the skills used to put together a piece for one topic, can be transferred to our next topic and how to develop initial ideas in interpretive dance. I have personally enjoyed all of the dance coaching this half term. It has been fantastic to see all of the children grow in confidence throughout the sessions. I have been amazed at how much we have achieved in 6 weeks. All of the children have been very excited to take part in our dance lessons – we love our Monday afternoons
L Mason-Day – “Inspirational, energetic teacher who has given me lots of ideas for teaching dance in the future including learning-based games, how to make dance fun for boys and using dance vocabulary”
